Pull Off Crazy Tricks and Flips in Extreme Skater HD – iPad Game Review

If you're looking for a thrilling game with daring twists, crazy turns, and awesome tricks, Extreme Skater HD is the app for you. This ultra exciting skating game is so action packed that you'll have a hard time putting it down once you start playing.

Extreme Skater HD is a tilt motion game, meaning you will tilt your iPad left and right to control your skater and keep him upright as he barrels down challenging jungle paths and insane urban streets.

The tilt controls are well-calibrated and surprisingly natural, making this game easy to control. While tilting, you will also swipe up to jump, and use tap controls to grab on to ropes and to perform death defying tricks.

Levels are cleverly designed, and you'll often find yourself skating upside down and backwards, navigating crazy turns and landing after insane jumps and backflips. Extreme Skater is definitely an exciting game that will keep you on your toes as you play.

As you skate, you will need to stay upright, which can be a challenge. You'll also need to carefully navigate obstacles like spikes and gaps using ropes, timed jumps, and grinds.

If you pull off enough special tricks while playing, you'll be able to unlock a special power mode that lets you mow through barriers and dangerous traps. Tricks are done by tapping special buttons and landing right, and will earn you extra points.

You will also need to grab as many coins as you can while you zoom through each level, because those coins are used to unlock new content. There are tons of unlockables in this game, which is one major reason why it's so addictive.

With the coins, you can buy new skaters, new boards, and new tricks, all of which keep the game fresh level after level. There are also achievements to earn for each level, which will reward you with extra currency to spend.

Extreme Skater HD is a game that looks good, with crisp graphics and bright colors, and plays even better. It's got 78 levels and plenty of in-game unlockables and goals to reach, which will keep you playing for quite some time.

What I liked: I'm not always a fan of tilt motion games, but Extreme Skater's controls are really accurate, making it easy (and fun!) to control the skater.

What I didn't like: This game would only let me hold my iPad in one way (home button at my right hand), which was irritating, because I prefer to hold it upside down (home button at my left hand) when I play games. It's not a big deal, but the majority of games can rotate. I was also disappointed that all the in-game achievements did not translate to Game Center achievements – there are only leaderboards.

To buy or not to buy: Extreme Skater HD is currently free, so now is the perfect time to snap it up.
